We saw these little guys hanging out on Flickr and fell in love. What a perfect idea for a holiday dessert tray! Unfortunately, the photo does not have the ingredients used — we were wondering if it was something stronger than whipped cream holding up the little hats. Other recipes, like this one from Uncommon Artistic Endeavors, use a combination of cream cheese and marshmallow fluff, which seems about right.
If any of you wind up making these at home, please let us know how you did it! We’re happy to post your photos and recipe.

Hi girls! Love the website….. I was thinking maybe the filling is made with cream cheese. The consistency is thicker and would hold up those little hats. Of course I don’t know this for sure but it makes sense : )
Thanks, Shauna! Agreed. If you make them this holiday, let us know!
OMG This would so impress my MIL, she love Santas. Thanks for an awesome idea. Too bad its not xmas. Have any other strawberry treat ideas, for a kid party?????????????
That’s such a good idea Tammi! We’ll do some research and get back to you!
Use 8oz of cream cheese and a jar of marshmallow fluff mixed together. And mini chocolate chips for the eyes.
Noel – that is such a cute idea!! Will do!
I made these for the kids I teach and I thought it was just whip cream I was wron they held up for about a min. Then melted down I Hurd if you stick. Toothpick in the middle it would hold up thoe.
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese , softened
1/2 cup marshmallow cream
12 large fresh strawberries
12 fresh pineapple chunks (about 1 inch pieces) or 12 canned pineapple chunks (about 1 inch pieces)
12 frilled toothpicks
24 miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Place cream cheese mixture in decorating bag fitted with #17 star tip.
2. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese and marshmallow cream in l with mixer on high speed until fluffy.
3 Cut each strawberry in 1/2 crosswise. Place a chunk of pineapple in center and secure with toothpick, repeat until done.
4. Press chocolate chips in to pineapple for eyes, pipe cream cheese around top bottom part of strawberry to form fur around the hat, then pipe cream cheese around pineapple to form Santa’s beard.
5. Refrigerate (no more than 2 hours).
