My sweet boyfriend has kindly agreed to let me paint his spare bathroom any way I’d like – as long as I don’t involve him in the process. Because I can’t make a decision by myself, I’ve polled everyone I know about my plans, including now, you all.
Our friend Leslie over at The DIY Diaries recently posted a slew of inspirational ideas for her own powder room, which she recently refinished. She has a few great ideas, but this one really caught my eye. I just love the preppy stripes!
However, when I showed it to one of my friends, she suggested going with a monochromatic stripe pattern, which may be a bit more masculine. I love the green/blue combo, but I do think a monochromatic pattern would also be nice. We’ll be keeping the mirror and sink that’s in the bathroom now, which is a more standard bathroom vanity and mirror than what’s in this photo. I would like to carry the ribbon idea to the top of a few picture frames I plan to hang, even if it is a bit feminine.
What do you think? This color pattern or a monochromatic color palette? Do you have any other preppy design ideas for a bathroom? Do share!

I’m passing along the Happy 101 award to you! See more here: http://diy-diaries.blogspot.com/2010/02/happy-101.html
Erin, I love this color combo. I was wondering how big the bathroom is? You may have to shorten the wideness of the stripe if the bath is small. I think using the Kacki color is masculine, and there is alot of towels etc… out there now using just that color., and then he blue is just so pleasant for a bath.
I think using bows on top of pics is fine and you can find both feminine and masculine photos for a bathroom.
I think the bow on top of the mirrow is too feminine.
Go for it, and remember it doensn”t has to last forever, being the DIY gal you can redo anytime!!! xoxo
Thanks, Aunt Kathy! You know what’s odd – I originally thought this was a blue/Khaki color combo – that’s how it looks on my home computer. But on my work computer, it’s green and blue! I kinda think I liked it in a khaki shade!
Monochromatic green stripes. That’s my vote!
I actually love the photo posted, but I think this is way to feminine for him. The bow is way cute, but to feminine for a man’s space.
