Any good host knows that the key to a successful party is making sure your guests get really schnockered have fun. What you serve – food AND drinks – can certainly influence whether your party is one that your friends will talk about for months. Everyone enjoys a little Bud while watching football. And there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s the King of Beers after all. But just in case you’re willing to take it one step further this Sunday, we’ve found two different drinks that will have your guests showing their team allegiance while also praising your mixology skills.
For the Peyton Manning types, try a Colt 45 Cocktail. If you’re thinking of this:
That’s not what we mean. We thinking something a little more sophisticated.
Although, I have to admit, even though I’m a gin drinker, I’m not going NEAR this recipe. If any of you brave souls out there give it a whirl for your parties…let us know how your head feels Monday how it tasted!
1 oz Gin
2 oz Jagermeister
5 oz Red Bull
Mix well, serve chilled
If Drew Brees is your guy, is there even an option to serve a drink besides a Hurricane? Now the last time I had three one of these puppies I spent the next morning in the bathroom of Commander’s Palace wishing I could vomit, which, let me tell you, was not how I wanted to experience one of the best restaurants in the country. That aside, they were delicious. Like candy. If you’re planning to make them at home, it’s easy to find recipes, including this one here. But the ingredient list is lengthy.
One alternative we found, was that you can order Hurricane Mix Concentrate straight from Pat O’Brien’s. You mix a bottle of the mix with water and 48oz of Amber Rum. Much, much easier in my book! And perhaps sticking to one liquor may cut down on your hangover? Just a thought….
Stay tuned for more tips tomorrow….
