Moving is the type of task that points out to you – in the meanest way possible – just how un-organized you are. It’s much easier to move important papers and files when they are packed neatly in storage boxes and containers. I learned this lesson the hard way.
When I was moving from my former apartment to my current one, important documents like tax forms, receipts and health insurance updates were unceremoniously dumped from the faux-wicker tray in which they lived ( on my nightstand, which was also home to the occasional water cup and leftover ice cream bowl) into a plastic bag identical to the ones in which I was placing trash. How it survived the journey intact is anyone’s guess, but I realized upon move-in, “I need help.”
Yay! DIY friend and contributor, Alicia, was kind enough to come over one recent Sunday and help me start this long, arduous, yet necessary, process. We’ve been scouring the internet and stores ever since looking for various ways to hide things in plain sight. She IM’d this link over to me from Martha Stewart with a succinct “OMG” and she’s right. Look at this beauty! So smart, so simple. So organized.
This post really has no point except to say that organization doesn’t just look good, it feels good! Wouldn’t you feel really great about yourself if you needed something and you had to go into that little beauty to find it? You sure would. You’d probably even pat yourself on the back for it. So, share your organization ideas with us! As I get up and running in the new place, I’m going to do the same with you.
(*That title is clever, just say it out loud.)

This is a great idea!!! I hope your partner impliments this into her safe keeping of important papers.
